Garage door not opening.

Hi All,

I am a sparky by trade but I have an issue with my dads garage door.

Ok so it opens a to about quarter of the way up then stops. If u press open again it goes up a few turns and then comes back down to the position it stopped at the first time. If u wind it up manually it comes down on the motor fine.

There is no beam but there is a pressure strip on the bottom. There are also a grey long panel that is screwed to the door with 3round batteries in which I have replaced and a grey square on the frame that lines up with this. I'm not to sure what this bit is? Could it be to link it to the alarm system maybe??

I can only think to replace the control panel but I'm not 100% this will solve the issue and I don't want to spend money if it's not required. It's an older door sws I think it has a light on the panel which flashes green Amber and red. The sequence of colours is a trouble shooter in the manual but if otter says different things ie different sequence of lights flashing?

Any help and advice would be great!!

Am not a garage door expert but i have experiencing similar issue that the person above has... what i did is to reset the program or better ask your nearest garage door specialist for support.
