    My Garage Door Won't Close - HELP!

    Since the inception of the UL325 Safety Standard in the early 1990's and the requirement of all garage door operator manufacturers to have safety devices (such as the safety beams, photo-eyes, etc.) this has been one of the biggest problems with electric operators.

    If one of the sensors happens to fail, get knocked out of alignment or a dirty lens (or even the sun shining on them can "blind" the sensor)the opener will refuse to close the door. There could be other reasons for the opener not closing the door but this is usually the problem.

    My Garage door is making the screeching, ear piercing sound. Also, Sometimes when I'm tying to close it, it starts to go down but stops and backs back up after only going down a few inches all while making this terrible noise. I've tried oiling it without any luck.

    Any suggestions and/or advise is greatly appreciated.

    First thing you might want to check for a screeching door is the rollers. If the bearings wear out or fall out then the roller is going to drag in the track and possibly get jammed. Replace any damaged or defective rollers.

    If you have pulleys on your door check those to make sure they are turning properly and the bearings haven't worn out.

    If you have a torsion spring setup make sure the spring is lubricated. It's best to lubricate the spring at least once a year to keep the coils from binding.

    Lastly, I would suggest checking all of the door hinges. Lubricate them as necessary and make sure they aren't bent or binding.

    These are just a few suggestions of common problems that may cause the door to make unreasonable noise. If you still can't track down the problem you may want to call a professional and have them do a complete service/tune-up of the door.

    Hey!! Why don't you use a simple and easy to use i.e an automatic gate that would really help you out!!!! Just try this!!!!
