i have a craftsman model craftsman model 139.53975SRT1,the opener has been acting up,stops all the sudden, reverses on its own, remotes work half the time.so i adjusted the up and down force and it seems to have fixed it except for the remote problem.is it normal to have to adjust the up and down force?i'm wondering if there is a problem with the opener or even the door.the door seems to work fine though, its a raynor with the springs above the door, the springs look ok,i cant see any breaks.the opener is 9 years old.thank you

You say the operator is 9 years old, have you ever replaced the batteries in the remotes? RC.

i checked the batteries with a volt meter, they are fine,it seems to be the keypad may be defective,i didnt think this would affect the range or how the remotes worked, but maybe it does.

The key pad should not have any effect on the range of your transmitters. Have you recently added any wireless computer WiFi type networks in your home? I have heard this can sometimes affect reception on the operator. Or maybe a neighbor's equipment.. Not really sure, just fishing. RC.

I think you found the problem...the keyless is defective. Most likely one of the buttons on the keypad is sticking (which is sending a signal to the opener) causing it to interfere with the remotes and making the opener act funny.

The Sears keyless would be the same as the Liftmaster....Liftmaster makes all the openers & accessories for Sears, they just slap their name on it.
