remote - OLD Sears opener and Chamberlain universal remote Empty OLD Sears opener and Chamberlain universal remote

Post  phrankndonna Sat Feb 01, 2020 9:02 pm

Hi. My folks have a rental house that has a very old Sears garage door opener, model # 139.655000.  The opener still works great.  Unfortunately one of the previous tenants took the OEM remote with them.  My dad got this Chamberlain universal remote, but I'm struggling getting it programmed.

I found the dip switches inside the wall button box, and there are dip switches inside the Chamberlain remote.  I tried matching them up in a couple different ways, but nothing worked.  Does anyone know how to program this per the pictures, or can anyone point me to a site that might help, please?

If I can't get this, we'll probably get a new opener.  I just hate discarding a perfectly fine opener.  I'd also appreciate any other thoughts.  Hopefully the images below come through.  If not, I'll try reposting them.

    Thank you very much.

    Frank

Got views but no replies here, so I posted to another site.  Here's a good response I got.  Thought I'd post it here for any viewers.

Wires in like a push button would.

If you have the LM375 UT remote you may need to get the remote into program mode. Genie also has a universal remote. The genie remote model number is GM3T-BX Part Number 37344R .

If that Motor is made before 1993 you might not get them to work.

Too old for universal remotes to work I believe. You can use a linear MDR-U universal receiver that you can plug directly into the outlet on the back of the opener to power it, and a Linear Megacode remote. Both available through Amazon.

I've had difficulty with the Liftmaster Universal remotes working even on a Liftmaster operator. This is a copy of a Legacy Liftmaster remote (Probably made in China). I disremember what the original remote model would have been.

Your door operator was manufactured prior to 1993 and should be replaced as it does not have any safety features. Keep at your own risk.

Sears operators were manufactured by Liftmaster (The Chamberlain Group) and private labeled for Sears.
