I have sectional roll up door both of my springs are off.And I need to get the door open to put the new springs on door is very heavy how do I get the door open ? can it be taken apart section by section ? any advice or wors of wisdom would be apercieated

My first suggestion would be to call a professional garage door company and have them complete the work. Most accidents that occur in the garage happen when a customer tries to fix the springs on the garage door themselves. It would be a lot cheaper to have a service call than a hospital bill....

That being said, if you are still determined to fix the springs on your door, I would advise you to get 2 or 3 friends or neighbors. You'll need to lift the dead weight of the door and get the door in the open position (this is assuming you have extension springs on your door). Once you have it in the open position take some clamps or vice grips and clamp them on the track just below the bottom roller. This will keep the door from free falling and injuring anyone. Once you have the door clamped open you'll be able to reattach the springs. There really are no easy outs or shortcuts to doing this.

Be careful...like I said earlier this can be very dangerous work. We strongly recommend that you have professionals do the work.

I also agree that it would be best to let the professional do the job. I am sure that you can do it, however, for perfect springs replacement and to handle other problems, if any, a professional garage door repairmen is best.

Unless you have extension springs it's actually preferable to leave the door closed during repair, otherwise you won't be able to set the cables properly and your door wont be level on the floor
