I'm designing a home automation device to control garage doors. I only have 1 door to test so I'm wondering if all the other openers work the same way. The one I'm working on seems to detect press of open/close button when the voltage across the 2 wires running to the button drops to 0 volts as the button connects those wires when it's pressed.
Do they all work that way?
How low does the voltage need to go for the controller to detect it? Can I get away with not completely shorting it and still having a couple volts across those wires? Are most controllers the same in this aspect?
Thanks for any help.
