Hi, I am new to this so direct me in the right direction if this has been asked already I searched but could not find anything.  So here is what happened.  I had backed into my garage door while it was open and bumped it slightly.  I did not realize I had wrecked anything until I had tried to close the door and then it bent a few of the the brackets and wheels.  In order to get the door closed I removed the bent brackets and pulled the emergency release but the door was still half open.  I removed the cables on each side then the door finally closed.  Now I have replaced the bent brackets and wheels and re attached the cables on the side. When I tried to hit the button to open it just hums for a couple seconds and nothing happens.  The locks are all off and the emergency handle has been pulled so I thought I could manually open it.  It will not move it is stuck closed and I can not open it manually.  Any suggestions of where to start here?  I have tired a few things and the diagnostic code is 5 flashes which says "Symptom: Motor has overheated; the motor unit does not operate = Motor unit hums briefly; RPM Sensor = Short travel 6-8", replace RPM.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

If you removed the cables then that means the springs are no longer working to lift the door. This means that you are trying to lift the garage door without help from the springs. Depending on what size door you have and what it's made of it can be very heavy & difficult to lift by yourself. Get someone to help you lift the door and be sure to put vise grips on the track just below the bottom roller when you get the door open to keep the door from falling. You might also need to straighten the sections if they were bowed when you hit it as they may be binding while trying to open it.

So I got my springs tightened and it will open and close by hand with no problem, it also opens with the motor but when going to close it it doesn't want to close properly only going down a little bit at a time. I am not sure what is wrong with it now? Any suggestions would be appreciated!
