Greetings, have an R170 that when activated keeps driving the door down and won't stop until it's unplugged. Swapped lower limit switch, capacitor and logic board, all to no avail. Any thoughts?

Try disconnecting the wall button and then run the opener...it's possible one of the control wires is shorting out.

You might also take the cover off and watch the down limit nut...make sure it's making contact with the close limit and not going by it.

Thanks, tried both of those to no avail. I'm wondering if it's the motor itself - stuck and won't reverse.

I doubt it would be the motor. It definitely sounds like a bad down limit switch. I would try another one. Did you buy a new limit switch or did you have a used one? We've had openers where we replaced the switch and found that the one we used to replace the switch was also bad and had to try a 3rd one.
