LiftMaster 3240M 1/2 HP Garage won't open or close - trolley troubleshooting

I am having difficulty with the LiftMaster 3240M 1/2 HP. For some reason the garage door wont stay down. There is damage where the L arm connects to the garage door, is this likely the cause? Looking for any suggestions on how to fix this problem.. Thanks so much!

Yes I would say that you need to fix the arm and top section. When the arm twists the operator is most likely sensing resistance causing the operator to reverse. You should put a strut (also known as a u-bar stiffener) across the top section to stiffen the section. Then reattach the operator mounting bracket & arm securely. You'll need to go to your local garage door company for the strut since it will be the width of the door and not something an online company would sell or shipping would be way too expensive.

In addition to that it wouldn't hurt to add an operator reinforcement bracket ( ORB ) for short. these can be found online. As GDzone stated the strut is definitely necessary. The ORB shouldn't cost much more. Ask your local company about it.
