    We recently had to replace the carriage return piece, (little black piece that travels up and down screw drive). Upon replacing the garage door will close, but when you hit the button to open, it does not open, but pushes even farther forward causing the railing to bow out. Any ideas?

    You might try to reset the door limits.

    Figured it out, pulled cover and one of the limiters had popped off. Reseated it, and it works
