some back ground: California in 2019 enacted a law that requires garage doors to be upgraded to include battery back up devices

problem: i have a newish lift master motor about 3 years old, that does not have the capability to have a battery back up and instead of forking out 800$ to replace it, id like to find an inline ac battery backup that will convert ac power to dc to stor and then convert it back to ac power to the motor. im wondering if this exists in some form. looking for out of the box solutions that still fit within california code.

A little late to the chat but perhaps you may be able to find the necessary information and the parts that you require here on https://www.garagedoornation.com . I myself have ordered some door parts here for my new house. Why didn't I just buy some whole doors instead of buying parts? The funny thing that I just found out last week is that it would be way cheaper to buy door parts and assemble them. This is a great tip btw. Buy door parts instead of doors!

complicated issue, need solutions Empty Spring replacement issue.

    Post  dcalver1967 Sat Jul 23, 2022 10:31 am

I have a Genie Liftmaster 1500.  While operating the garage door I noticed several issues and contact Genie for support. The solution was to replace the extension springs and replace the rollers.

The old springs had white ends so I replaced them with the same.

Now, the door opens just fine but when it closes it picks up speed during the last 2 or 3 feet of travel and slams down hard.

Should I replace the springs with higher rated springs for a heavier door?

    Thanks!
