Did I get ripped off by my garage door installation guy?

About 2 years ago my garage springs broke. I had them replaced and the door was supposedly balanced.

Fast forward today the door has no longer balanced. Called out the same company and they inform me it was standard after about a year to get the door springs rebalanced for $150. They spent about 5 minutes during the job and we're gone.

Has anyone heard of this that the Springs have to be rebalanced after 2 years? Or did they just do a lousy job the first time

I wouldnt say they ripped you off. Just a poor explanation. The springs will lose strength in tension over time and every so often (we recommend yearly) the door needs to be serviced and the springs adjusted. Likely just a 1/2 turn here or there. A door will "drift" or sag. So, Spring adjusting is common. Especially in high usage doors. Side note: Doors are typically sold with a 10k cycle spring(s). Averaging about 6-10 years
