Problem with garage door top two panels Empty Problem with garage door top two panels

Has anyone ever experienced the top two panels not 'bending' as they should when you try to close the door?  Its like the two try and come down together without 'separating' horizontally.  It's like they bend concavely from the outside and make a very loud noise on the way down.  Or they don't come down at all.  It's hard to explain without a pic or a video but if you know what I'm talking about and have any thoughts, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Problem with garage door top two panels Empty damaged top two panels

Sounds like it could be that they need more braces or some people call them struts. If the door is a long door like 16' this sounds like the section are not supported enough to hold the center of the door up and the sections are bending in the middle and not wanting to work correctly. I'm not sure without seeing a video of the door working.

I understand the situation you are describing, and it sounds like an issue with the panels or sections of the garage door not operating as they should. Here are a few thoughts on what could be causing this problem:

Misaligned or damaged rollers: If the rollers that the door panels ride on are not properly aligned or have become damaged, it can prevent the panels from smoothly separating and moving along the track as they should.
Worn or broken springs: The torsion or extension springs that counterbalance the weight of the garage door are critical to its proper operation. If these springs are worn out or broken, it can cause the panels to bind and not move freely.
Obstruction in the track: Any kind of obstruction or debris in the garage door track can interfere with the smooth motion of the panels as they open and close.
Issues with the hinges: The hinges that connect the individual door panels together may be damaged or not properly lubricated, causing the panels to not articulate as intended.
Without being able to see the specific issue, it's difficult to diagnose the exact problem. I would recommend having a professional garage door repair technician take a look to properly identify and address the root cause. They will be able to inspect the door components and make the necessary adjustments or replacements to restore proper, quiet operation. Please let me know if you have any other questions!
