chamberlain door sometimes does not open but turning light off and on works

Hi Everyone, 
    I have a chamberlain garage door thats about 15 years old. Recently every so often when we try to open the garage door, using the remote or the direct connected button it does not open. If we turn the lights on the door opener off and back on then the door will open. I have changed the lightbulbs and even taken them out. But still have that issue.  Any ideas?
