Garage Seal Not Found Empty Garage Seal Not Found

    Post  epratt000 Mon Dec 23, 2019 3:35 pm

After searching literally thousands of results I have yet to find the stripping I need for my garage. Maybe I'm searching for the wrong thing, but I doubt it. It's the stripping at the bottom of my garage door, but it's unlike anything I've found on the entire internet so far. Below is a picture of the side view of the stripping. It sticks out the front of the garage instead of facing downward.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

What make/model of garage door do you have? Is it steel or wood door? How is the seal attached to the door? Does it slide into an astragal retainer or is it nailed/screwed to the door? A picture of the door and the bottom of the door may be helpful.

Thank you for the quick reply and for your help.

I know the garage door is a Windsor, but I couldn't find any sticker, marking, or stamp anywhere on the inside or outside of the door to determine the model. I just know it's a Windsor because of the lock on the outside. I searched each side, top, bottom, and inside every crevice I could think of to find any kind of indicator of the model but didn't find anything.

    Steel door
The seal slides in from the side.

    See pictures for reference

That is unique. I can't say that I've seen that before so I'm not sure if it's still available. If you can't find it then I would suggest that you go to your local garage door dealer or call around and ask if they carry a replacement astragal retainer that can be attached to the bottom of the door. You can then get the more common T-style bottom seal that would slide into the new retainer. The retainers can be made of aluminum but you can also get ones that made from plastic (which will be a good bit cheaper). Depending on the width of you door it could be around $45-70 for the retainer and the seal.
