Open and closing Empty Open and closing

Post  Partwerks Sat Dec 16, 2023 11:30 pm

    I have a Chamberlain, Model HD920EV.
Started off opening slow, and would get about a 18" open, and stop, with a excessive closing force detected, error.
I lubed the track a bit, and help a little bit, but goes up slow, and when it comes back down, when it gets about 3ft from closing, it comes down fast, and bangs into the floor.
Seems like it is pulling the motor, and no brakes towards the end, coming down?

Any thoughts, ideas, or suggestions, on what is going on with it, or just getting wore out?

The symptoms you describe with your Chamberlain Model HD920EV garage door opener suggest a few potential issues:

    Possible causes:

    • Sensor Misalignment: Misaligned safety sensors at the bottom of the tracks can trigger the "excessive closing force detected" error and prevent the door from fully opening.
    • Loose or Damaged Springs: Weak or broken springs might not provide enough counterbalance against the motor's downward force, leading to the door slamming shut.
    • Faulty Torque Adjustment: The torque setting that controls the closing force might be set too high, causing the door to slam instead of gently stopping.
    • Worn or Damaged Gears: Over time, wear and tear on the internal gears could result in uneven movement and loss of control.
