Was I ripped off?

Had a local garage repair company out to rebalance the garage door.  Besides the fact that they seemed rushed to get the job done, they pointed out that the wheels on the door were plastic and we should replace them with wheels with metal bearings.  I was a bit distracted at the time and we ultimately said yes, even though it was an extra hundred dollars and took only ten minutes more to do.  It wasn't until after I had time to look over the invoice and look up prices online that I thought it was much too high.

I looked at the wheels and they still looked plastic, though the bearings did look metal.  I really didn't get a chance to look at the originals, but I'm pretty sure everything was original since the garage installed in 93.

They adjusted the springs, sprayed the wheels in less than 15 minutes.  Then to replace the wheels they charged 90 for parts and an extra $20 and had the wheels replaced in 10 minutes.  

I can't help but feel I was taken advantage of.  Looking for input before I review them on Yelp.

Sorry this happened to you. Overcharging like this makes everyone in the industry look bad. Unfortunately there are companies out there (in all service type industries) that do this and get away with it.

The charge for the rollers is definitely inflated. Ten rollers (whether they 10-ball bearing steel or nylon) should go for $20-$30 for a pack of 10. I also find it curious that they say tax is included on the rollers yet they don't show you how much tax you paid. I always thought that the tax needed to be shown on an invoice but perhaps the laws are different in your area. I also don't know how they figured the tax on the rollers. If the tax rate is 8.265% and they charged $90 for 10 rollers then that would mean that the rollers would have to be $8.313 each for the total to come to $90. That's a strange number for the price of rollers.

On a side note, in our area a service call charge covers the 1st hour of labor so those 10 rollers would've been covered under the service call charge (their Basic Service charge). This may be a regional thing though so that's hard to judge but charging an additional $20 doesn't seem fair.

You should give them an honest review on Yelp. Unfortunately a lot of people don't read reviews before calling a company for service but it can't hurt. You may want to also contact your local tv news. There have been a few news outlets that have done undercover news reports on dishonest garage door companies (and other service type industries) over the past couple of years.
Exposing dishonest companies is the only way to stop these types of things from happening.
