My Liftmaster 8500W went out of service. The wall mounted remote was blinking rapidly with both red and yellow lights. The door didn't respond to pressing the open button on the wall mounted remote, and the wireless remotes in the car didn't work either. I tried a new wall mount remote that I had here, it still wouldn't work. However, if I touch the red and white wires that were connected to the wall mount remote together, the door will go up! I'm thinking the logic board inside is fried, as I read online that these 8500 openers are somewhat known for that issue. Am I missing anything here?
I just bought a replacement, but rather than buy another 8500 with its known issue, I bought it's successor, a Liftmaster 98022. My question is the sensors and the lock that mounts on the door track are all working perfectly. All the wires to these components are behind the wallboard neatly. I'd rather not replace them if the old ones are compatible with the new 98022 opener. Are they compatible, can I just plug them right into the 98022?
