    Hello,
I have a craftsman 1/2hp garage door opener that acting funny. From time to time the door will open about a foot and stop. Press the button again, the door closes. This is typically repeated 2-4 times before the door actually opens. I have even witness this happen when the door is disconnected from the trolley.
I've read a few other forums and based on that information I performed or checked the following.
-replaced the worm gears on drive motor
-check the door moves freely when disconnected from the trolley.
-check springs (recently replaced last year).
-checked alignment of door sensors “Green Lights”.
    -adjusted the "power up" dial.

If anyone has a suggestions on what I should do next that would be greatly appreciated, because this is really frustrating.
    Thanks,
    Adam

    Hello,

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with your Craftsman garage door opener. Based on the information you provided and the steps you've already taken, there are a few additional troubleshooting steps you can try:

Check the remote control batteries: Low battery power in the remote control can sometimes cause intermittent issues. Make sure the batteries are fresh and properly installed.
Inspect the wiring: Examine the wiring connections between the motor unit and the wall control, as well as the wiring going to the door sensors. Loose or damaged wires can disrupt the proper functioning of the opener.
Lubricate moving parts: Apply lubrication to the rollers, hinges, tracks, and other moving parts of the garage door to ensure smooth operation. Lack of lubrication can cause excessive friction, leading to issues with opening and closing.
Reset the opener: Try resetting the garage door opener by unplugging it from the power source for a few minutes, then plugging it back in. This can sometimes resolve temporary glitches.
Consult a professional: If the above steps do not resolve the issue, it may be beneficial to contact a professional garage door technician. They have the expertise to diagnose and fix more complex problems with the opener.
