Garage door won’t close with remote

I have a Craftsman opener, don’t know what the model is but it’s 21 years old.  Never had any problems until now.  We have two remotes plus the one that is built into the car. The door opens and closes fine with the button on the wall.  The door will open with all three remotes but will not close with all three. Absolutely nothing happens, no noises, flashes lights, etc. Does anyone have any ideas or is it time to just get a new one?

Do you use CFL low energy bulbs in the opener or anywhere in the garage? Do you have fluorescent tube lights in the garage? Have you added any new type of electronics in the home or around the garage? Any of these things can cause interference and with the light bulbs would be noticed when the door opens because that's when the bulbs come on in the opener.

When closing the door with the wall button do you press the button momentarily & release it or do you have to hold the button until the door is fully closed? If you have to hold the button then there's an issue with the safety sensors (dirty, broke or knocked out of alignment) that's causing the issue.
