How to program a dipswitch remote Empty How to program a dipswitch remote

The actual garage door opener model ARD Type IIA has 8 dip switches on it. The remote that linear has told me to buy for it 9921T has 9 dip switches on it.
How do I program something with 9 dip switches for 8. I just want to know how a 9 dip switch garage door remote will work with the actual garage door opener that only has 8 dip switches.

A little background on allister door control systems according to google to explain why I had to ask a company named linear.
Allister was a garage door opener manufacturer in the 80s until they became employee owned and renamed Allstar. Several years later they were sold to Linear who currently owns them.
