Mod 130-7 will only travel forward/down

Hello, I have a 130-7 that was installed in 1990 that is Ill. I closed the door and it keep running until it overheated (I assume) about the same time I got the ladder in place to unplug it. I unplugged the opener and went to bed. I tried to raise the door the next morning and could hear it run but no movement. After pulling the skin I found the belt was shot (burnt in half) so I replaced it. I find now that when I plug the opener in it is still trying to close/down and will not stop. I manually tried to trip the reversing switchs while the unit was unplugged. The 130 is still trying to close.
  Now what?

I read in another area of GDZ an exchange dated Dec 21, 2009 where another person had a similar problem. I had a busy Doctor day today so I will check it out in detail tomorrow.

Did you take the cover off & watch the limit nuts as they travel to the limit switches? Is the close limit nut going past the limit switch & not making contact? Try pulling he spring loaded retaining rod out from the limit nut & move the nut up on the threaded rod. One revolution of the nut is about 3" of door travel."

Not sure where the limit nuts are but the skin is still off so I'll look for them.

I started to trouble shot the opener ....... I don't see any burn marks on the Circuit board, I started to check the switches and stopped........... I had shoulder surgery a month ago and the overhead work hurts ! ! If any body wants any or all of the opener I will be happy to mail it to you(Including the brand new Gates belt) .
  Based on pain levels I think it will be easier and faster to put up a new one. I'll hold on to the old one for a while, If you want it or any part of it let me know.
Whose do I want to buy? Lowes has Chamberlain, and I have another week to shop before SS comes in. Any recommendations?
